Florida Updates

State agencies updated a variety of numbers on 5/18/20210 about the coronavirus in Florida. Here are some takeaways:


--- 45,588: Total number of cases.

--- 777: Increase in cases from a Saturday count.

--- 1,973: Deaths of Florida residents.

--- 9: Increase in deaths from a Saturday count, with deaths of people who tested positive in Citrus, Miami-Dade, DeSoto, Duval, Hillsborough, Martin and Polk counties.

--- 66: Overall cases in DeSoto County.

--- 7: Deaths in DeSoto County, with the verification Sunday of the death of a 67-year-old woman.

--- 76.7: Average age in DeSoto County deaths.

--- 883: Deaths of residents or staff members of long-term care facilities.

--- 8: Increase in long-term care facility deaths from a Saturday count.

--- 44.8: Percentage of deaths involving residents or staff members of long-term care facilities.

--- 10: Counties with at least 25 deaths involving residents or staff members of long-term care facilities (Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Manatee, Lee, Pinellas, Sarasota, Polk, Hillsborough, Charlotte).

--- 18: Counties with at least 11 deaths involving residents or staff members of long-term care facilities (Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Manatee, Lee, Pinellas, Sarasota, Polk, Hillsborough, Charlotte, Collier, Suwannee, Volusia, Clay, Escambia, Duval, Hendry, St. Lucie).
